Swimming/Lake Activities

Lake and Pool Supervision
All lake and pool time activities are monitored by certified lifeguards at all times. In addition, ample Camp4Real staff members are present to supervise all water play and enforce safety standards.

“Swimming Practice” Evaluation
Throughout the week, campers will wear a color-coded bracelet to differentiate their swimming level proficiency: non-swimmer, beginners, and competent to advanced swimmers. To determine which band a child receives, they will be evaluated on the first day of camp to determine swimming proficiency. To make all our swimmers feel more comfortable about the process, the word “test” will not be used with the campers.

This evaluation will include:

  • Treading water for 45 seconds
To pass, participants must keep their heads above water and may not use the wall as a safety aid
  • Completing two laps across the shorter length of the pool, while demonstrating at least two different swim strokes: doggie paddle, freestyle, backstroke, or breaststroke.

Required Safety Equipment

  • Pool Time
All non-swimmers are required to wear a Puddle Jumper (or similar Coast Guard approved life-saving water flotation device/life vest) at all times while swimming or playing in and around the pool. This rule is enforced by our lifeguards and camp staff. No exceptions.
  • Lake Time
All swimmers and non-swimmers (children and adults) are required to wear a life vest at all times while swimming or playing in and around the lake. Younger children may wear a Puddle Jumper. This rule is enforced by our lifeguards and camp staff. No exceptions.
