Volunteer to Hire Program

Volunteer to Hire Programadmin2024-09-07T13:14:32+00:00

Getting Started

Our volunteer-to-hire process is designed to help you start your journey with Camp4Real, ensuring a perfect fit for both you and our camp community. We invite you to explore our staff opportunities and start your adventure with us by emailing us at Camp4Real@gmail.com to inquire about participating in our Volunteer Program, the required first step in applying for any position.

Why Volunteering First?

Volunteering provides an exceptional opportunity for us to observe potential team members in action, allowing us to see firsthand how they interact with campers, staff, and the overall camp environment. Equally important, it allows volunteers to experience Camp4Real from the inside, helping them determine if our camp aligns with their values and expectations.

The Process

  1. Commitment to Volunteering: All interested applicants must volunteer a minimum of 12 hours during the school year (equivalent to one Kids Day Off (KDO) and two Kids Night Out (KNO) events). This initial experience is a crucial part of our selection process. Candidates will not be considered for any camp positions without volunteer time.
  2. Evaluation: After completing the required number of volunteer hours, the Camp Director and/or Camp Assistant Director and Camp Manager will evaluate whether the volunteer aligns with our established hiring criteria. This evaluation includes assessing the volunteers interaction with campers, their teamwork, and their overall contribution to the camp atmosphere.
  3. Interview Invitation: If the Camp Director determines that the volunteer is a good fit for our team, the applicant will be invited to the second stage of the interview process, which involves either an in-person or over-the-phone interview.
  4. Final Decision: Following the interview, the candidate will be informed of the final decision. Successful candidates will be offered a position* and welcomed to join the Camp4Real team.

We are committed to creating a safe, fun, and enriching environment for our campers, and this volunteer-to-hire process helps ensure that every staff member is a great fit for Camp4Real.

*Note that CIT positions are only filled for participation during summer camp, and do not apply to KNO or KDO events. Volunteering with us during the school year is the first step to being consider for a CIT position or paid staff position during the summer.
