Meet Your Mighty Mites Camp Leaders

At Camp4Real, we believe that the heart of a great camp lies in the people who lead it. That’s why we’re proud to introduce two of Brownsville Elementary’s most beloved educators as the leaders of our very first Mighty Mites Camp:

Jamie Beeler

  • Jamie brings over 20 years of experience as an elementary P.E. teacher and is a proud recipient of the Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence. Known for his energy, positivity, and deep commitment to helping kids thrive through movement, Jamie has been a trusted part of the Camp4Real team for several years.

Courtney Wood

  • Courtney is a dedicated first-grade teacher with more than 15 years of classroom experience. Also a Golden Apple Award winner, she is celebrated for her nurturing, creative teaching style and her passion for fostering emotional wellness and social connection in young learners.

Together, Jamie and Courtney bring the perfect balance of active play, creative exploration, and warm guidance to help your child build confidence, connection, and joy in their very first independent camp experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do cancellations and transfers work?

We know that plans can change—here’s how we handle cancellations and transfers for Mighty Mites:

  • Refunds (minus a $10 processing fee) will be available for cancellations made on or before July 7, 2025.
  • No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after July 7, 2025.
  • If Camp4Real must cancel the Mighty Mites Summer Camp for any reason (including weather, school closure, or low enrollment), you will receive a full refund.
  • No transfers will be allowed

Is there a camper registration minimum?

To ensure a meaningful and well-supported experience for our campers, a minimum of 25 registered participants must be met by Monday, June 24, 2025 in order for Mighty Mites Camp to take place as scheduled.

This minimum helps us:

  • Ensure adequate staffing and proper supervision for all campers
  • Secure and prepare all necessary camp materials and supplies
  • Maintain the quality, safety, and energy that Camp4Real is known for
  • Use our facility resources responsibly and efficiently

If the registration minimum is not met by this date, we will notify all families immediately and issue full refunds for any payments made.

We appreciate your understanding and early registration—it truly helps us bring this special experience to life for your little ones!

Why is camp only 2 hours long?

  • Mighty Mites Camp runs from 9:30–11:30 AM each day to thoughtfully match the developmental needs of 4–6 year olds. At this age, children are just beginning to explore independence outside the home. A shorter camp day helps ensure they stay engaged, have a positive experience, and leave feeling confident—not overwhelmed. It’s just the right amount of time for fun, connection, and growth!

What should my child bring?

  • Please send your child with a full water bottle labeled with their name.
That’s it! No food is needed, as camp is short and we do not serve snacks. Please make sure your child eats a full breakfast beforehand to fuel up for active fun.

What should my child wear?

  • Campers should come dressed in comfortable, weather-appropriate play clothes that can get a little messy. Please avoid open-toed shoes—closed-toe sneakers are best for safety and movement.

How do I know if my child is ready for a drop-off camp?

Great question! Every child is different, but here are a few signs your child might be ready:

  • They separate from a caregiver without excessive distress in other settings (like preschool or playdates)
  • They’re potty-trained
  • They show interest in group activities and interacting with peers
  • They’re excited about “big kid” experiences like school or camp

We know this is a tender age, and our educators are warm, patient, and experienced in helping little ones feel safe and successful in new environments. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to talk through it with you!

Are bathrooms and hygiene needs supported?

  • Yes! Children will have access to age-appropriate restroom facilities and caring adult support as needed.

Do we have to attend Brownsville Elementary to join?

  • Nope! Mighty Mites Camp is open to all families in the Camp4Real community, including those in Albemarle, Charlottesville, Crozet, and surrounding counties. While it’s hosted at Brownsville and led by beloved teachers from the school, all are welcome!

What does drop-off and pick-up look like?

We’ll provide detailed instructions prior to camp, but generally:

  • Drop-off begins at 9:20 AM
  • Pick-up is promptly at 11:30 AM
We ask that parents say goodbye at the door to help children begin building confidence in this independent experience.

Will my child be okay if they get nervous or miss me?

  • We totally understand—and we’re here for that. Our camp is intentionally short and full of loving structure to help children build trust and resilience gently. Our educators are trained to recognize signs of discomfort and will work with each child at their own pace. Most little ones adjust quickly and end the day smiling, proud, and excited to return.
